Tryouts for 2024/25 Season Announced posted May 7 2024
ABC announces tryout dates and times at Arrowhead High School. Tryouts will be Sunday, Sept. 22 and Sunday, Sept. 27. Times will be the same on both dates; 4th grade boys/girls at 8-9am, 5th grade boys/girls at 9-10am, 6th grade boys/girls at 10-11am, 7th grade boys/girls at 11-noon, 8th grade boys/girls at noon-1pm. It is important that players attend both sessions. All players must register before tryouts using the link provided. The LINK will be posted here around July 1. Players are to bring their own basketballs. More information on the tryouts will be posted here later.
Summer Open Gyms posted May 2, 2024
ABC players have an opportunity to practice their skills during the summer. We are sponsoring OPEN GYMS on selective dates and times. Players must be ABC registered from the 2023/24 season. Bring your own basketball. ABC coaches are supervisors. All OPEN GYMS are at AHS East gym on Thursdays only. Dates and Times: June 13, 6-7:30pm; June 20, 6-7:30pm; June 27, 7-8:30pm; July 11, 6-7:30pm; July 18, 6-7:30pm; July 25, 6-7:30pm. No need to register nor pay. Email questions: lgdronek@gmail.com
ABC Girls Small Group Workouts with Coach Grace Gilmore posted May 4, 2024
Coach Gilmore played in ABC 5th-8th grade, at Arrowhead 2013-2017, and Western Illinois University 2017-2021. She then played a season of professional basketball in Portugal in 2022. This past season, Coach Gilmore was an ABC coach for 4th grade girls. Her goal is to create a fun, collaborative environment for female athletes where we can get together to grow their love for the game and widen their skill set.
Workouts will include:
- Ball handling, gaining a quick first step
- Defensive positioning, reading the offense
- Different rim attacks and finishes
- Shooting form/game like shots
- Reading and setting different types of screens
- Understanding the game/strategy
- Live game play to implement new skills
Nine (9) MONDAYS:
June 10, June 17, June 24, July 1, July 8, July 15, July 22*** No workout July 29th ***August 5, August 12

Incoming 5th-6th grade ABC players: 3-4pm
Incoming 7th-8th grade ABC players: 4-5pm
Incoming 9th-12th grade Arrowhead players: 5-6pm
